This is a real gold dust weevil terrarium ring.
This lovely creature is called a Gold Dust Beetle or Hypomeces squamosus a genus of the true weevil family. This little guy is even more beautiful in person, very shimmery and unique to the natural eye. I couldn't find much information about these while searching books and online other then they are native to Malaysia , so they must be fairly rare.
Also inside is a chunk of peacock ore, also known as chakra stone for its iridescent rainbow of colors. Other ingredients are sun bleached vacant snail shell, babys breath and mini star daisy. Comes in an antiqued bronze or silver tone ring which is adjustable to fit most any size.
Would make a lovely and unique gift. Insects are sourced ethically from sanctuaries. These sanctuaries encourage native people ( Malaysia, Papa New Guinea, Indonesia etc. ) to raise the insects instead of cutting down the land for cash crops. This is beneficial to the exotic species population as well as their home. Insects live out their full life span and are collected after death so that their beauty may live on.
