Real insect art collage.
This unique one of a kind handmade piece of art features a lovely specimen known as "The Gold Dust Weevil" or Hypomeces squamosus a genus of the true weevil family. This little guy is even more beautiful in person, very shimmery and unique to the natural eye. I couldn't find much information about these while searching books and online other then they are native to Malaysia , so they must be fairly rare.
Also framed in the scene is a real sliced ammonite, chunk of green aventurine, small chunk of quartz crystal , vacant sun bleached snail shell, real preserved mushroom and miniature yellow star daisies. The frame is silver and oval shaped, an up-cycled antique. Has a stand in the back and a hanger for your displaying convenience. Measures 5 inches long and 3 inches wide.
No insects are ever harmed to create my jewelry they are either found naturally deceased or come from Insect Sanctuaries which actually help maintain the species and their habitat. Here they are allowed to live out their full lifespan and are collected post-mortem so that their beauty can live on. In fact native people (Malaysia, Indonesia, Papa New Guinea etc..) are encouraged to raise insects other then cut down the land for cash crops.
